Rev. Randy comes to us from the United Church of Canada, our ecumenical partner north of the border. As a trained interim minister he has served congregations in a variety of locations. Recently he served a medium-sized congregation in Southwest Ontario, after the sudden departure of their minister. During his time there the congregation grew by over 10% and a new governance model was introduced lessening the burden on individual church volunteers.
One of his most notable experiences comes from serving a church in Orange County, California. Working with that small church, he led the congregation through a period of renewal and growth, and helped them become more a part of the community, than in the community. The community meal program he launched is still going strong and proudly serves over 350 at each sitting.
Prior to serving in Orange County, he served as interim minister in South Carolina and as and Georgia. This experience followed training and experience he gained as the community minister at a church in Los Angeles. Experience that saw him take the church into the community. Study groups and bible studies were just some of the activities he took outside the walls of the church and into the homes and coffee shops of the community he served.
His journey began in Toronto where he received his Master of Divinity Degree at Emmanuel College, the United Church Theological College. To help round out his experience, he completed his field education at Metropolitan United Church, undertaking such tasks as holding the weekly chapel service and the bi-weekly worship service at a local seniors care facility.
Rev. Randy believes in an open door policy. He is always available to meet with people, and holds regular office hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. Feel free to give him a call to set up an appointment to see him, or just stop by to say hello.
